Helio Mattar

Helio Mattar, holds M.S. and Ph.D degrees in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University. He has held executive posts in Brazilian and multinational corporations for 22 years, as well as in his own business. He was Secretary of Industrial and Trade Policy in the Federal Government of Brazil in the period 1999 and 2000. He was one of the founders of the Ethos Institute for Business and Social Responsibility, in 1998, of which he is a member of the Board of Directors. As of 2001, he was the idealizer and one of the founders of the Akatu Institute for Conscious Consumption, for which he is currently the President and a member of the Board of Directors. He is a member of the Outstanding Social Entrepreneurs network of the Schwab Foundation, linked to the World Economic Forum. He is member of a number of Boards of Corporations and NGOs both in Brazil and internationally. He has been a keynote speaker on many of the MBA courses of the Administration Institute Foundation of the University of São Paulo on Corporate Social Responsibility and on the Role of Consumers in Building a Sustainable Society.
